First quarter 2017 for the C90GT/GTi/GTx market showed a decrease in values and slowed activity with only one airplane sold in each segment. The good news is that inventory levels, particularly for the C90GT, are in the decline. From what we can tell, asking prices have little connection to reality when compared with the actual transactions that we know. Opportunities remain good for today’s buyer, if they are patient. The majority of these airplanes are overseas, or have significant foreign history and the market seems to be very selective. Foreign history is not necessarily a negative, from an operational standpoint, but the resale market brings lower values for non-US aircraft. The best buys may be an airplane with Spanish in the logbooks that can be put through a complete inspection at a Service Center so as to reset the maintenance clock and give the buyer some piece of mind regarding condition, or you can plan to wait a while for a “pedigree” airplane to come along. Asking prices for GTs are in the $1.4M to $1.9M range; GTi and GTx models overlap with values ranging in the $1.85M to $2.5M range. A new C90GTx will run north of $3.5M.

King Air 200 Series

The B200/200GT/250 markets are in similar shape to the C90 markets mentioned earlier in this report, with slow activity levels. The B200 markets appear largely steady, as statistically, they tend to be older and have already depreciated to low levels compared with the B200GT & 250 models. The B200 markets in particular are di cult to characterize in generalities because you might be trying to compare, for example, a 1982 model with 13,000 hours to a 2004 model ProLine 21 airplane that may have Blackhawk and Raisbeck conversions, and those two types of aircraft have very little in common, value wise. As a buyer, it is very important to be able to understand and analyze the di erences in these airplanes, as the value can vary wildly based on Times, Condition, Equipment and Modifications. A “cheap” airplane may not really be that cheap and an “expensive” airplane might a bargain.

The B200GT & 250 Markets are easier to understand as these airplanes are largely the same, newer and not as heavily modified or upgraded as the B200s. The B200GT was upgraded in 2008 from the standard B200 with the addition of the upgraded PT6A-52 engines. The 250 was introduced in 2011 with various improvements, most notably winglets. The inventory levels are low, percentage wise, and still dropping, but pricing has come down rather dramatically in recent years due in large part to a steep depreciation curve. If you’re buying a late model 250, make sure you know what you can buy a new one for and adjust appropriately for the wear, hours, and warranty status. A B200GT should sell in the mid $2Ms to low/mid $3Ms, and pre-owned 250’s around the mid $3Ms. Textron issued a SB for the ADS-B upgrade this past quarter. It’s pricey and with the mandate coming in 2020, this will surely be an important evaluation point.

King Air 350/350i

King Air 350 / 350i markets are more of the now-familiar story like the late-model 250s and 90GTx planes: values slowly but steadily dropping with slower activity in the past several months. Inventory levels in both the 350 and 350i markets have been on the rise since late 2015.

In terms of values, a typical, mid-2000s vintage King Air 350 should bring somewhere in the mid/high $2Ms if marketed competently. King Air 350i values sit in the mid $4Ms range. ADS-B is becoming an important evaluation point on these as well.
